Last week, we made yet another step forward in our local vaccination effort. I visited The Harlington Centre in Fleet that, as promised, opened its doors and began vaccinating local residents. This builds on the work at Church Crookham, Yateley, Chineham and Farnham amongst others – meaning people have even more choice locally as to where they get their vaccination.
The plan is working. People are getting the vaccine. The North East Hampshire and Farnham area of the NHS has the highest take up in the country, with 99.8 per cent of over-70s having had their first dose.
I know the whole constituency sends their thanks to our local doctors and nurses, support staff and other volunteers, who have worked so hard.
The monumental effort to help people to get their vaccinate across Britain as quickly as possible meant that the Prime Minister could, this week, address the nation and announce the much anticipated roadmap out of national restrictions.
It is a well thought through, cautious, but optimistic approach. We are getting through this!
